YOU MAY
1. Take the “stone soup” approach
– coffee is just the 1st ingredient for a conversation on what else can we sell to generate profit.
OR
2. Forget the “stone soup”
– Let’s just start some other business which we have more knowledge about.
The Stone Soup
A traveler comes to a village, carrying an empty cooking pot. The villagers are unwilling to share their food stores with the hungry traveler. The traveler fills the pot with water from a nearby stream. He drops a stone in it, and places it over a fire. A villager becomes curious and asks what is he is doing.
The traveler says, he is making a very tasty "stone soup" and he is happy to share this with the villager. But the soup needs a little something extra to improve the flavour. The villager offers a few carrots, which is added to the soup. Another villager walks by, inquiring about the pot, and the traveler again mentions his stone soup which has not reached its full potential. The villager offers a little bit of seasoning. Then, more and more villagers walk by, each offering another ingredient. Finally, the traveler discreetly removes the (inedible) stone from the pot, and a delicious and nourishing pot of soup is enjoyed by the traveler and all the villagers.
MORAL of the story: When we share (ideas) we often can create something better.
