Let Passion Drive Your Ambition

Here I am sitting in a trendy cafe come "art gallery". While enjoying a mug of free trade coffee, I feast my eyes on the beautiful paintings on the walls around me.

The passion of the artist succeeds in creating an uplifting atmosphere in a room full of patrons all engaged in lively chatter as we sip our drink of choice and enjoy the meal prepared by a chef who is equally passionate.

This experience confirms that to succeed with a business idea you need to be passionate about what you do.

Passion comes from the realization that what is considered as current business practices were at one time radical ideas that captured the imagination of consumers.

We see the traditional local diners disappear with the advent of fast food cafes. But, the realization has to be that fresh ideas can re-invent a seemingly age old business. In this cafe I experience a fresh idea that is capturing the imagination of consumers in the city.

Business start ups should focus on identifying the consumer need that the new business idea serves to fulfill. The passion of the entrepreneur has to infect the consumer creating enthusiasm and a desire for what is being offered. The sale is made repeatedly when consumers believe they have received value and a desire in them has been fulfilled.

The challenge is therefore, in creating products and services that provide a positive experience for consumers who then come back for more and who additionally become advocates speaking with passion about their experience. This can create a positive feed-back cycle that drives the business to pursue improvements and innovations with renewed passion.

Infect your team, the community and consumers with your passion and allow the feel good factor to lift your spirits and stimulate your drive to be better at your business.
